inauguration
Inauguration Day. A day more unbelievably awesome than Free Cone Day at Ben & Jerry’s. Naturally, Kit and I were there for it all.
We sipped mint martinis in the courtyard atrium of the National Portrait Gallery at the 2009 Green Inaugural Ball.
We gathered with thousands in the freezing cold on the National Mall in the early hours of the morning for the swearing-in.
We stood not 30 feet away as Barack and Michelle had their first dance as President and First Lady at The Neighborhood Ball.
We even passed by the motorcade on our walk back to the metro.
All on 3 hours’ sleep, with some very cold toes.

Starting today, we must pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and begin again the work of remaking America.
